Hoge Runs…and Eats!

Just another foodie who loves to run!

Wowie Zowie! June 3, 2010

That’s right…have you seen this?!?!  That’s right, season 3 True Blood MEGA preview!  I cannot wait for next weekend!  I can tell from the preview they are straying from the book series but some things are true to the book and I think it’s going to be a HOT mix.  Lots of time with this fella whom I’ve requested my friend L bring back from Sweden with her 😉

Anyway, girlie outburst over 😉

I definitely made it out for my run this morning, knocked out 4.03 miles before work 🙂  It was a mad dash to the train again today, so hard to get adjusted after a long weekend!  I had a slice of zucchini bread when I made it to work with a tall non-fat hazelnut latte. I am still on my “breaking the ‘bucks habit” kick, but I was about to lose it and needed to get away from my desk and coffee was the perfect excuse.  It wasn’t a bad day, but I spent all day looking for $8,000 in a schedule…blah!!

The day does pass quickly when you’re looking for a needle in a haystack and before I knew it it was lunch time!  I had a repeat of Tuesday’s lunch with some leftover Mexican rice, spicy ranch, a 100-calorie pack of guacamole and salsa with a sprinkle of cheese:

And brought some baked chips and carrot sticks to dip.  Carrots  + guac = heaven!  Hadn’t thought of it before and it was a really surprisingly good mix1

Throughout the afternoon I snacked on some cherries.  No, they aren’t “donut” cherries (hehehehe) I just attacked them with my brand new cherry/olive pitter.  Makes it much easier to nibble on cherries at work!

Around 4 I broke out some veggies and balsamic, I’ll spare you a picture as it was a repeat of yesterday – broccoli and cuc’s.  I needed something sweet so I broke out a homemade granola bar.  I’ve sat it next to a set of post-it flags for size comparison.

And my healthy snack combo must have done the trick because I found the $8,000!!  Finally!! It only took 2 days to find it, I had 2 numbers backward.  Booo!!  I felt really good finding it though, like finding the last piece of a puzzle.

What was your mini-success of the day? I have three, getting up to go running, choosing healthy snacks all day, and finding that darned $8k!

When I got home, our veggie box was here – Chris took a couple pictures but there were so many veggies in our box this week that we had to “fuse” them together in PhotoShop. As Chris said “we’re gonna need a lot of ranch this week” 😉

In our box this week was:

1 avocado

1 head green leaf lettuce

  • 1 bunch chard
  • 1 bunch carrots
  • 6 bananas
  • 6 peaches
  • 1 cantaloupe
  • 1 box of blueberries
  • 2 boxes of cherry tomatoes
  • 9 onions
  • 1.5 pounds of potatoes
  • 3 zucchinis
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 2 cucumbers

I think that’s it…it was packed to the gills this week. For dinner, I made french toast with Challah – the soft, chewy bread was perfect for French toast.  I added a little vanilla to the egg/milk bath and it was just what was needed to put it over the delicious edge.

I made fried potatoes with diced onion and reheated some bacon from last night for sides.

Yum, yum, yum!  Hit the spot!

Ok…side note – is anyone watching SYTYCD this season?  I was SO excited for All Stars, but they just announced the All Stars aren’t competing?  Hmm.  Boo!!  The actual show is starting now, so I’m going to wrap this up.  Have an awesome Friday bloggies!!

Oh my gosh, we can sympathize with Chris on the whole needing ranch! I love veggies but they are somehow better with ranch!

Thanks for you comment! Good job on cranking out 4 miles before work! I was trying to run this morning but my bed was soooo comfy. :B

Good eats. Love the thought of that Mexican rice and nibbling on cherries.
Every time I eat cherries now I think of that darned movie with Jack Nicholson who plays the devil and the 3 actresses (I think one was Cher?) who he reels in. Can’t think of the name?…anyway – they are all in the pool eating cherries and spitting out the pits then all of a sudden the pool starts filling up…..know what I’m talking about???

I’m going to have to ask Chris on this one – he was a film major and I think he’s seen every movie ever created (including a few that sound like watching paint dry…literally).

  4. I loooove True Blood (and the books it is based on). Eric is, of course, my favorite. 🙂

I’m kind of bummed about the new SYTYCD format. I think it is crazy to pick only 10 dancers to be in the finals out of all of those talented people. Also, I’m going to miss the contestants pairing up into couples. But, it will be nice to see veteran Mark again. Mmm. Mark.

I think I like Eric best BECAUSE of the books! I just finished the newest one and swooned through the whole thing! I am excited to see Mark/Courtney/etc again, but I do think it’s not really fair to pick only 10 dancers just to bring the All Stars back. Chris brought up a point last night that maybe they needed to shorten the season to fit just into the summer schedule? I don’t know…irritating!
